This is an article dedicated to the series Stoked.
As noted in the main page, Stoked takes place at Sunset Beach, British Columbia, Canada. The Groms (or young surfers) get jobs at a local five star resort called Surfer's Paradise Ridgemount Resort. The Groms, however, learn to not judge a book by its cover, or in this case, "Don't judge a hotel by its ad". Once they learn the resort is "Kooksville", the fun decreases. But it gets way better when the Groms learn about the Office.
Teletoon and Cartoon Network fans seem to enjoy the show (at least the first season), but some viewers have said it's a little too into surfing. They also say that the show really doesn't have a good plot, unlike its predecessors Total Drama and 6teen. But overall, many people enjoy the series for its attraction to older kids. Season Two was less well-received by much of the show's fanbase due to out-of-character depictions of several of the main characters and the series creators' decision to downplay the popular Reef-Fin relationship in favor of a new romantic relationship between Lo and Reef, which ended up being unpopular with most of the fanbase because of how that storyline was handled.
Season Two of Stoked debuted on September 16, 2010 and aired new episodes on Thursday nights (and repeating on Sunday nights) at 8:30 p.m. on Teletoon. Stoked also previously aired in the United States on Cartoon Network from July 16, 2009 until July 26, 2010, after which the show was dropped by CN with the last four episodes of Season 1 still unaired. As a result, only one season ever aired in the United States.
Season Two of the show was stretched out over the course of two and a half years on Teletoon because it went into reruns immediately after the original airing of "Clinging in the Rain" on January 6, 2011, followed by the show being placed on hiatus by Teletoon for nine months between April 2011 and January 2012, then followed by more reruns upon the return of Stoked to the Teletoon schedule; the next new episode in the season, "My Fair Leslie", first aired on April 16, 2012, over one year and three months after the previous episode. The final new episode, "Grom Fest", aired on January 26, 2013.
Stoked: Season 1 was released on DVD by Vivendi Entertainment Canada on February 22, 2011 and contains all 26 episodes from Season One. Due to the negative reception by the show's viewers to Season Two, a Season Two DVD release has yet to occur. eOne Films Distribution has since assumed the distribution rights to the Season One DVD release.
